Veronica plant

Easy and undemanding, veronicas catch the eye in sunny gardens over many months. Some have mats with loose clusters of saucer-shaped flowers, while others group their star or tubular flowers into erect tight spikes. A few veronicas bring elusive blue to the garden, but more often the flowers are purplish or violet blue, rosy pink, or white. Provide full sun and average well-drained soil. Regular deadheading extends bloom time. The best part about these beauties is they are a perennial that attract butterflies and humming birds!

Dipladenia

The Dipladenia is a gorgeous elegant plant with trumpet- like flowers that cover the plant all summer. It has hearty green foliage and can be planted in your yard or in a patio container. You will need to water them frequently and thoroughly during hot days, and feed regularly with a balanced liquid fertilizer. They love the sun so put them in a nice bright location and enjoy them all summer!

Have you discovered Alstroemeria yet?

Commonly called the Peruvian Lily, it has little to no smell for those of you that find lilies to fragrant. Most of the cut varieties will range from 2 to 3 feet in length and branch into a multi-headed bloom.

Colors include yellow, apricot, orange, salmon, pink, red, mauve, lavender, purple, cream, white and bi-colors. All have a distinctive “tiger” stripping in the throat of the flower.

Freshly cut, they will typically last 1 to 2 weeks but I took some home a while ago that lasted closed to 3 weeks.

Featured now at our Broadway store, you’ll find a “manager’s special” in place… 3 bunches for $10. That’s 15 stems!!
